A popular destination for those who want to enjoy a lazy day at the beach. Swimming is reasonably safe away from the river mouth and there are a number of sand dunes to explore for wildlife.
Popular for swimming, fishing, surfing and sailing - although care needs to be taken when swimming, and surfing should only be undertaken by experienced surfers. There is fabulous marshland behind the beach which is home to numerous birds.
This long sandy beach is ideal for families and has some eye-catching features including rows of traditional beach huts. It’s also adjacent to the South West Coast Path with nearby attractions including the picturesque fishing village of Clovelly.
The long sandy beach at Saunton has plenty of room for beach games and is the ideal place for a family day out. Crow Point can be accessed along the beach, with the adjacent UNESCO Biosphere Reserve at Braunton Burrows being within close proximity.
Rocks must be negotiated before you reach the large sandy beach and high tide covers the beach completely. Swimming and surfing are not recommended either side of high tide and nearby signs warn of the dangers. The coastal path north leads to Tintagel and makes a wonderful scenic walk.
