South Wiltshire and Cranborne Chase possess 70% of Europe’s remaining chalkland habitat and Lodge Farmhouse is the perfectly placed base for its exploration. There is public access to more than 1200 acres of nature reserves owned by English Nature, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and RSPB within walking distance. There is also the opportunity to walk in our own ‘ancient woodlands’. We provide spacious en-suite rooms and a breakfast that will set you up for the day.

Chalkland orchids, gentian and fungi abound on these downs, whilst the brown hare, rare elsewhere, is common. Increasingly, rare bird species are returning such as stone curlews, harriers and kites and on a June evening you may catch glimpses of fox, badger and certainly roe deer.
