This is an excellent beach with gently sloping sands and safe sheltered swimming. Activities on the water include sailing, windsurfing and diving. The Dorset Coast Path extends in both directions from Swanage Bay, passing through beautiful countryside along this section of coast.
This beach is less commercial than the neighbouring ones and is reached by steps that run down the wooded cliff from the castle grounds. Sandy beach with safe, clean bathing water and clear views to the Isle of Wight. The beach is close to the Dorset coastal path and Avon valley walks.
The beach at Branscombe is the ideal place to relax and enjoy the coastal scenery. On the South West Coast Path, there is a good cliff top walk to Beer, offering magnificent views. Fishing trips can be arranged from the beach.
The small cove is within easy reach of Falmouth and is reasonable safe for swimming. There is a footpath around Swanpool Lake to the Cornwall Wildlife Trust Nature reserve beyond. There is a coastal path leading to Gyllingvase beach. Swanpool lake is good for birds.
Cliffs and rocky headlands dominate and provide a great variety of wildflowers. The area is classed as a Heritage Coast and walking is recommended, but keep an eye on the tide. There is a National Trust area nearby and with this comes a car park and café
