This is an excellent beach with gently sloping sands and safe sheltered swimming. Activities on the water include sailing, windsurfing and diving. The Dorset Coast Path extends in both directions from Swanage Bay, passing through beautiful countryside along this section of coast.

A long shingle beach with windsurfing, sailing and canoeing. Slapton Sands is also well known as the beach where many lives were lost during rehearsals for the D-Day landings in 1944. Freshwater Ley lies behind the beach where wildfowl and flora are in abundance.
The reserve in Dartmoor National Park consists of 170 hectares and includes a small upland oakland surrounded by granite tors and moorland.
Covering 35 square miles, the forest was formerly a royal hunting forest. It is now a place of few crowds and much peace with the largest area of old oak trees in Britain.
