The jewel in the crown of Newquay’s beaches – expanses of golden sand, rolling waves, alfresco dining and beach shopping at their best.
This is a popular beach with a wide expanse of sand and some rock pools. If it gets too busy there’s also plenty to see and do in the historic fishing village and fishing trips can still be arranged at the waterfront.
A popular destination for those who want to enjoy a lazy day at the beach. Swimming is reasonably safe away from the river mouth and there are a number of sand dunes to explore for wildlife.
The sand and shingle beach at the fishing port of Porthlevan stretches three miles southeast along the Loe Bar. Basking sharks, seals and dolphins may be seen in the area.
The beach is popular with families and surfers alike. There are good coastal walks from the beach but if you are walking along the beach you should be careful of the tide. The South West Coast Path along the top of the cliffs north towards Chapel Porth makes a wonderful scenic walk.
