Coryton Cove, formerly known as Gentleman's Cove in Victorian times, is a secluded and picturesque cove located at the end of the seawall in Dawlish. Easy walking distance to Dawlish,famous for its Black Swans and unusual wild fowl. Coryton Cove offers something for everyone.
Steep steps lead down to this un-commercial beach at one of Dorset’s most recognisable coastal features. Although the water is fairly sheltered near the arch swimmers should be careful as the beach does drop away quite quickly. The undulating cliffs form a challenging section to the Dorset Coast Path, and its associated circular walks.
The sand and shingle beach at the fishing port of Porthlevan stretches three miles southeast along the Loe Bar. Basking sharks, seals and dolphins may be seen in the area.
The pebble beach at Beer is a natural suntrap and is sheltered from sea breezes by the surrounding cliffs. Part of the beach is still used by local fishermen and deep sea fishing trips can also be arranged.
Cliffs and rocky headlands dominate and provide a great variety of wildflowers. The area is classed as a Heritage Coast and walking is recommended, but keep an eye on the tide. There is a National Trust area nearby and with this comes a car park and café
