In the 18th century porcelain companies competed to produce fine china. Subsequently the largest have bought china clay from Cornwall to make tableware fit for royalty. Today it is Cornwall's largest industry also providing clay for thousands of modern products.
On the 26 acre site, you are follow the production story from 1800 to date. After an audio-visual introduction you see former works with the largest working water wheel in Cornwall, exhibitions, displays of transport including two locomotives and a 1916 Peerless lorry.
The Nature Trail leads through man made and natural habitats to a spectacular pit view where you can watch the workings of a modern clay pit. A Children's Adventure trail gives youngsters an exciting commando style experience.
