Wistman's Wood, Two Bridges, Devon
Wistman's Wood is famous for mosses and lichens.
The reserve in Dartmoor National Park consists of 170 hectares and includes a small upland oakland surrounded by granite tors and moorland.
Wistman's Wood itself is famous for its mosses and lichens which festoon the trees and granite boulders.
Best Times to visit: Mid April - August for moorland birds All year round for lichens and mosses For guided walks, please check website for details. Please remember that this is an upland site where the weather can change suddenly (even in summer!). Visitors should ensure that they have adequate footwear and clothing especially in winter and early spring.
Facilities - a mainly upland site with no surfaced paths.
Dogs - some restrictions apply during lambing season.
