Fine beaches stretch continuously for 3 miles from South Haven Point to the Chalk cliffs of Handfast Point and Old Harry Rocks, and include Shell Bay and a designated naturist area. The Studland Heath National Nature Reserve covers the whole peninsula.
The Dorset AONB supports a fantastic range of wildlife. At its eastern end lies Poole Harbour, one of the most important wetland areas in the country. It attracts 20,000 wintering birds and its islands support one of the UK’s last surviving colonies of red squirrels.
From the extensive pine woodlands and heathlands in the Wareham and Ringwood areas, to the beautiful beech woodlands of Cranborne Chase, the forests of Dorset are a delight to discover.
